About Ari Deutchman as a Doula Childbirth and the events, emotions, relationships and physical experiences surrounding it have been a major passion and focus of most of my adult life. I began teaching childbirth classes in 1978 and continued off and on for 20 years, frequently and regularly volunteering to be additional labor support (doula care) for couples and single mothers. I have a master’s degree in Infant Development, specializing in birth to age one year, including many assessments of development and developmental care. I received a Bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1992, and my nursing career included working in the NICU, postpartum and labor and delivery. My own daughter was born VERY early, and gave me considerable experience in complicated pregnancy and many postpartum challenges. I also have background of 15 years with spiritual/energy and sound healing added to these efforts which compliments fully any activities of labor, birth and postpartum. At last, and with great passion and joy, I have stepped in to the work that I am here to do – provide compassionate, educated, nurturing support to women, babies, families as they begin this journey together. I am in process of becoming certified through DONA (Doulas of North America) for both birth and postpartum Doulas.
