Postpartum Doula Services

Home visits begin anytime after the birth of your baby, continuing through the first weeks and months of the birth, as you feel you need support or assistance. Visits may be one time, 2-3 times a week, once a month or as needed. Services provided are likely to differ with each visit and may include:

• postpartum comfort measures, education
• non-judgmental support and companionship
• newborn care, characteristics
• breastfeeding support
• getting acquainted/bonding
• infant soothing and coping skills
• nutrition & meal preparation
• errands
• temporary sibling childcare
• awareness of the signs of postpartum depression
• coordination of support
• light household tas

Giving birth to a baby is so much more than a physical phenomenon; it engages parents-to-be in a transformational experience, a key life event full of emotion and meaning. It is the beginning, after all, of a whole new relationship, one that is lifelong for all family members involved. Knowledgeable, supportive, non-judgmental assistance can help shift stressful, potential crises into ease and joyful celebration.
